ABUSE BITES WORKSHOPS & SEMINARS
“We don’t put a band-aid on bullying. We offering help & healing for all—even the bullies.”
Abuse Bites offers a variety of
educational workshops for preschoolers, grade school students, teens, and even
adults. Their curriculum has been reviewed and used in many schools and
other places all over Michigan. Their upbeat presentations are fun, family
oriented, and designed to tackle bullying behaviors and meet the needs of
everyone involved (target, bystander, and even those with bully behaviors).
Interactive Presentation via video: "How to Take The Bully Down"
“Our New Curriculum will teach kids & families to BE THE CHANGE they want to see in others.”
-Lisa Freeman, CEO
Available in Classroom settings & Assemblies
Both Non-Religious & Religious Workshops
Available
Pre-K thru 5th Grade
In this fun, interactive, upbeat
anti-bullying workshop for youngsters, Snickers starts off by sniffing out a
bully—our other pooch,
Baby Ruth—and we tell her story of how she’s been the WORST DOG EVER, but how we
have worked with her, loved her, and now her bullying behaviors are much better.
Children are then engaged in an educational power point presentation, with
several interactive games (including puppets), while offering class discussion
(Q & A time) about safety, intervention, and prevention methods. Students will
discuss what a real bully is (bullying behaviors), what bullycide is and how to
prevent it, who bullies bully, why bullies bully, as well as when, where, how to
get help for themselves, others, and even the bullies. They will also learn how
to say no to peer pressure as well as other important safety tips.
6th –
12th Grade
Abuse Bites offers a more
advanced workshop for this select group of tweens and teens.
For these students we offer more education, awareness, and prevention methods to
help them avoid peer & dating violence (physical/sexual abuse), drug & alcohol
addiction, self-abuse, and promote driving & work safety. At the same time we
still play hilarious games, roll playing, and other techniques to allow group
interaction and promote healing within this vital group of tweens/teens.
Parents & Educators
For our parents and educators we
focus on key problems causing bullying/abuse as well as practical solutions to
solve them, both at school and home, so everyone (students, parents, and
educators) can be on the same page to maintain a safer school/work/home
environment.
Closing the Curtains on Abuse & Bullying: At
the end of each interactive presentation, a pair of, trained, certified pet
therapy dogs take center stage and put on a trick performance that
will captivate any crowd, while CEO & Director of the program, Lisa Freeman
reinstates some very important safety tips. (If time allows, Jeremiah Freeman,
who was nearly bullied to death, sings songs that encourage others, and the team
offers group interaction with dogs for a session of pet therapy, which is a very
healing part of what Abuse Bites does.)
Follow Up Program: After we do our presentations in each school, we offer a potential year long, anti-bullying awareness, prevention and safety program. We urge teachers and school staff to get on board, as this is dire in stopping bullying in both the classroom, school, home and even the community.
*We are working on bringing skits
into our program as well. A Ventriloquist is even joining our team as a side bar
to what we do.
